Tonight Vancouver Island musicians are coming together from the comfort of their own homes to present a benefit concert for those living on the Island who are struggling due to COVID-19.
According to a press release, Nanaimo resident and American Idol contestant Lauren Spencer-Smith is among the performers who will take part in Rock for Relief: A Living Room Fundraising Concert for Vancouver Island. Among the other participating artists are Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster, Randy Bachman, the Tenors and Aaron Pritchett. There will also be appearances by Island notables like Steve Nash and Rick Hansen.
The release notes that Rock for Relief is organized by the Nanaimo Foundation, the Victoria foundation and Chek TV. Viewers can choose to donate to the Rapid Relief Fund, which supports the Victoria area and the Cowichan Valley, or the Island Response Fund, which benefits those living north of the Cowichan Valley.
Rock for Relief: A Living Room Fundraising Concert for Vancouver Island will be broadcast tonight at 8 p.m. on Chek TV and the station’s Facebook and YouTube accounts.
