If you like discovering a good wine you are almost guaranteed to find just the wine that matches your palate at the fourth annual Day Break Rotary Wine and Blues Fest by the Sea. The event takes place at the Campbell River Maritime Heritage Centre on the evening of Saturday, June 15 from 7-9:30 p.m.
“We have over 14 winery representatives with wine from regions all over the world,” says Theresa Marson, one of the coordinators of the event. “The wine tasting is complemented by a special selection of cheeses, cold cuts, breads, fruit dishes, spreads etc. all generously provided by Thrifty Foods and a variety of tasty treats provided by Jonny’s Bar & Lounge, Natural Pastures Cheeses, Rocky Mountain Chocolates and Grieg Seafood.”
In addition, the ticket price also includes attendance at wine pairing seminars, samplings of specialty wines, door prizes and a silent auction and – of course – free taxi service home within the Campbell River area after the event.
And not to be missed!
There will be live entertainment with 2012 Maple Blues Award winner David Vest and special guests. According to the Toronto Blues Society, “…piano man David Vest’s bio reads like the history of rock ‘n roll and blues: raised in Alabama and playing throughout the South since 1957, he’s among a select group that includes Ronnie Hawkins and Jerry Lee Lewis.”
This year’s 12 wine representatives include: Mark Anthony Brands, Peller Estates, Martin & Peacock, Vincor, Constellation Brands, Peter Mielzynski Agencies Ltd. (PMA Canada), E & J Gallo Winery Canada Ltd., E & J Gallo Winery Canada Ltd., Southend Farm & Vineyards, Chaberton Estate Wines, Averill Creek Wines, The Kirkwood Group, The Diageo Group, Carpe Diem Wine Sales, Saturna Island Family Estate Winery and Blue Moon Winery. The Campbell River Day Break Rotary is responsible for organizing this event, which will allow Rotary to continue with its many charitable causes in the community. All proceeds will stay in the community.
