RSS Drama will host their final performance in the drama studio this June 2 & 3 when senior students present Juvie, by playwright Jerome McDonough. Next year, they’ll be moving into their new digs at the new school.
Juvie takes place in a juvenile detention centre, portraying the stories of the youths locked up inside. An arsonist describes the fires that drive away the darkness; a heroin addict recounts her tale of a burglary gone wrong; a teenager relives the moment she hit a boy with her car, then fled away.
Drama teacher Theresa Browning said the play’s serious themes will challenge the young actors.
Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for adults. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on June 2 and June 3. Tickets are available at RSS, or call 250-837-2137.
