Marin Patenaude and Flatland Peaks are on stage for the next Safety Meeting concert this Friday, Feb. 19 at the Central Cariboo Arts Centre.
Marin already has a name carved out for herself in the Cariboo and the Lower Mainland, as an amazingly talented vocalist and songwriter, says event organizer Brandon Hoffman.
Of course the Cariboo scene knows her from acts such as the Little Horsefly Country Band, but she has been known to cameo with acts such as Pugs and Crows, and has a pretty insane all-star cast appearing on her upcoming record.
Marin will be making the trip up to showcase the tunes on her upcoming record, with Flatland Peaks opening the night.
Flatland Peaks, who will open for Marin is a crew of young local folks, shredding on violin, banjo, and set to a nice earthy rhythm section.
Tickets for Marin Patenaude and Flatland Peaks are available at Red Shreds at a suggested $15.
Friday, Feb. 12 the Safety Meeting concert series at the arts centre featured Black Spruce Bog and Kym Gouchie.
Black Spruce Bog is a five-piece northern BC band based out of Prince George. Known for their rowdy live performances, Black Spruce Bog brings high-energy and a dance-worthy ruckus to every stage they play, large or small. Comprised of members influenced by different genres (jazz, metal, punk, folk), this roots-rock-revival-BC-Canadiana band often surprises crowds with its musical versatility and diversity.
Fiercely in love with the land they call home, Black Spruce Bog’s first album, “Confluence,” is a colourful tribute to the north country and the people who live there.
The Safety Meeting concert series continues into spring as follows:
Friday, Feb. 26: Leathan Milne with Lydia Hol.
Friday, March 4: Wooden Horsemen with Bush Party.
Friday, March 18: Sam Tudor and the Shimmering Biscuits with Colin Easthope and Wallgrin.
Saturday, March 19: Sam Tudor and the Shimmering Biscuits with Colin Easthope and Wallgrin.
Friday, March 25: CR Avery with guests.
