The authors of popular reference guides for B.C. boaters are telling their own adventure stories during a presentation at the Harbourfront library.
Anne and Laurence Yeadon-Jones, authors of the Dreamspeaker Cruising Guides, talk about the popular and little-known highlights for sailors along the B.C. coast May 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Their books feature detailed charts, tips and data; hand-drawn shoreline plans of selected marinas and small boat anchorages; aerial photographs illustrating safe approaches to destinations; and full-colour scenic photographs showcasing the splendour of the coast.
The books are intended to complement official hydrographic charts.
Born in Hampshire, England, Laurence Yeadon-Jones is an architect and designer with special talents for unique, accurately detailed maps and imaginative photography. Born in Durban, South Africa, Anne Yeadon-Jones is an apparel designer and stylist, who has managed to juggle fashion, boating and writing.
In 1985, the couple voyaged from Southampton, UK, on their first sailing expedition across the Atlantic Ocean. They logged thousands of cruising hours charting, recording and photographing their adventures along the beautifully rugged southern coastline of the Pacific Northwest.
To date they produced six colourful, information-packed Dreamspeaker Cruising Guides and see themselves as passionate ambassadors of the area’s unspoiled cruising waters, its coastal communities and local enterprises.
The Yeadon-Joneses live in Vancouver’s West End and are able to keep their 36-foot sailboat – Dreamspeaker – ready to go at a moment’s notice.
