Say olé for Okanagan return of El Mariachi Los Dorados

George Ryga Centre brings back annual tour of Vancouver mariachi group, with two stops in the North Okanagan.

Ken Smedley and The George Ryga Centre have announced the return of El Mariachi Los Dorados on its annual Okanagan tour.

This fiesta of Mexican music and culture features the Vancouver-based band and one of the few Canadian mariachi groups to be return participants in the International Mariachi Festival of Guadalajara.

The group features former Armstrong resident Terrence “Diego” Smedley-Kohl, who plays the large guitarron, a bass-like instrument.

In the North Okanagan, El Mariachi Los Dorados will perform at the  Zion United Church Hall in Armstrong, March 22 at 8 p.m. Tickets are at Chocoliro in downtown Armstrong. Phone 250-546-2886.
