A trio from Scotland is playing a house concert in Qualicum Beach March 20.
They are called the Maeve MacKinnon Trio, featuring one of the greatest new Gaelic singers that have come on the scene, according to Mike Harding, BBC Radio 2.
MacKinnon won major praise for her 2007 debut album Don’t Sing Love Songs including Up and Coming Artist of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards. She has now released the eagerly-awaited follow-up, Once Upon an Olive Branch, which also marks her first public foray into songwriting.
She’ll be performing at the Beaton’s home in Qualicum Beach with Ross Martin on guitar and Brain MacAlpine on keyboard.
Tickets are $20, the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Contact Joyce Beaton for tickets at beatonqualicum@gmail.com.
