The Government of B.C. is looking for a new song to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017.
Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of B.C. has launched a new program to promote music and community spirit across the province. “Sing Me A Song” is an opportunity for musical groups of all ages and genres to write and sing an original song.
Groups are encouraged to write a song about what Canada’s “sesquicentennial” means to them or their community.
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of musicians from around B.C. and an award of $1,000 will be granted in each of three age categories.
Whether it is a school or community choir or other amateur musical group, all submissions must have a minimum of 15 voices and musical accompaniment is welcome. Each song must be original content, no longer than five minutes in length, and be based on the Canada 150 themes.
Adults may assist in the creation of the musical content for younger age groups.
