Eleanor Deckert says her new book, “10 Days in January” talks about, “One husband, two brothers, three sons, and four dads.”
Her first book, “10 Days in December,” has been in print for 15 months and journals the first 10 days that then 20-year-old Eleanor and her newly-wed husband, Kevin, lived in their tiny log-cabin surrounded by the mountains of the North Thompson River valley.
Now, she says, loyal readers have been asking, “What happens next?”
“Book one, ’10 Days in December,’ ends with the beginning of three bitter cold weeks in late December, 1978 through mid-January, 1979,” Deckert explained. “Those days continued with nothing but repetition. Feed the fire. Melt the snow. Saw, split, stack the wood. Stay in the sleeping bag. The rest of the chapters of book two, “10 Days in January” share other turning points in my life, which happened in the month of January: births, deaths, decisions, personal yet universal family dynamics.”
