Series adds fourth show

Oceanside Classical Concerts launches subscription sales for its second season on weekend of May 29-31

The successful Oceanside Classical Concerts is launching its second season of high-calibre classical music in Oceanside this weekend, and the series is guaranteed to be bigger than ever.

“It is with great pleasure that I am now able to announce the confirmation of an additional concert to our exciting 2015-2016 season,” said artistic director David Douglas.

This extra concert, which brings the series to four performances, will feature pianist Jane Coop, O.C., one of Canada’s most prominent and distinguished artists. She will play for a local audience in late October.

The new season will also see the Borealis String Quartet, Couloir and the Elmer Iseler Singers take the stage in September, February 2016 and April 2016, respectively.

Many of the artists featured in these upcoming concerts, as well as those who were in last year’s season, have performed on some of the world’s greatest concert stages.

“We now are looking forward with great anticipation to our next season of presenting Oceanside Classical Concerts to the Parksville-Qualicum area,” said Douglas. “Classical music has the extraordinary power to communicate, inspire, uplift and entertain.”

As with last season, the concerts will take place at Knox United Church, which is known for its accessibility, great acoustics and comfortable seats.

Oceanside Classical Concerts is a subscription only series, meaning no individual concert tickets are sold. This successful concert model was developed by distinguished Canadian musician and impresario George Zukerman, O.C., O.B.C., who is the artistic advisor to the Parksville-based series.

Despite the addition of the fourth concert, the price of a subscription to the series will remain at $95. This means each concert only costs $23.75.

Members of the public are encouraged to renew or purchase their subscription soon to avoid disappointment.

Subscriptions for the 2015-2016 series can be purchased at the McMillan Arts Centre, Knox United Church and The Beach Club Resort. They are also available online at oceansideclassicalconcerts.ca, where you can find information such as concert dates and profiles of the performers.

For more information, you can also contact the McMillan Arts Centre, 250-248-8185. Representatives of the series will also be at the Parksville Museum Farmers Market on Friday, May 29.

Oceanside Classical Concerts is presented by the Oceanside Community Arts Council and corporate sponsor, The Beach Club Resort.
