Dec. 10-21 – The UFV theatre department brings classic holiday piece, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, to the stage Dec. 10 to 21. Dramatized with flair and wit in a version first performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company, this adaptation of the ageless story captures Dickens’ ironic point of view and creates a panoramic view of Victorian London. Dec. 18-21 – Cultus Lake Christmas is a free event for families to enjoy the spirit of Christmas from Dec. 18-21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cultus Lake Park. Activities will include a home/business decorating contest that will provide a street of dreams of lights for all to enjoy, nightly carolling and music, Santa Claus, Santa Town, a nativity scene, refreshments and more. The kick-off event is Dec. 18 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Cultus Lake Golf Club where Santa will be welcomed to Cultus Lake Christmas. There will be music and hot chocolate — bring the kids to see Santa fly in from the North Pole. A donation to the Chilliwack Food Bank would be appreciated. Lights can be viewed until Jan. 4.

Dec. 19 – Head to the Cultural Centre for Sing-A-Long with The Sound of Music at 7:30 p.m. The film includes subtitles so the audience can sing along. Tickets $18 and available at the Centre Box Office, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469) or online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca.

Dec. 19 – Pull up a chair and enjoy classic Christmas movie, White Christmas, at Minter Country Garden at 5:30 p.m.

Dec. 20 – The Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra will be presenting A Celebration of Christmas, with special guest soprano Sinead White, at the Cultural Centre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15/students, $25/adults and available at the Centre Box Office, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469) or online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca.

Dec. 21 – Enjoy a performance by the Cascadia Wind Ensemble at 3:30 p.m. and music by Sweetwater at 5:30 p.m. at Minter Country Garden.

Dec. 21 – Classical Ballet Academy presents Ballet Workshop par Excellence with former European ballerina Vera Babakova at 4 p.m. For dancers aged nine and up. For more info, call 604-701-0173.

Dec. 22 – Join St. Thomas Anglican Church for I’ll Be Home For Christmas, an evening of classic Christmas music and new tunes with Caroline Buckingham, Nicola Davies and Kiel Magis in the church hall (46048 Gore Ave.) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15 and available at the door or by calling 604-792-8521. Proceeds will benefit St. Thomas Anglican Church as well as local musician, Caroline Buckingham in her musical endeavours in New York City next March.

The Evergreen Artist Group invites anyone who loves to paint or draw to join them on Monday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon weekly at Evergreen Hall. They have room for three more artists. Contact Wynne at 604-392-5599 for more info.

Now to Dec. 20 – Colours of Life, featuring painter and wood carver Collette Pereira and photographer Kelly Corbett, have a show at the Cultural Centre from Nov. 6 to Dec. 20. Hours: Wednesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
