Folks are invited to come out and enjoy the Eighth Annual Bridge Lake Photo Group (BLPG) Exhibition at the Interlakes Community Centre on Highway 24 on May 1, from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Photographers are displaying their best images at this very popular event, which attracted almost 200 people last year.
The admission is free to take in the show.
The most popular segment of the event, says BLPG spokesperson Derek Chambers, is the slideshow, which is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., during which eight to 10 exhibitors put together a three- to five-minute presentation complete with music.
“They will introduce their pieces; it may be a theme, or just their favourite pictures.”
A few examples of what the upcoming slideshows are Iceland, Eakin Creek Canyon, Palouse, Wash., grizzly bears and birds.
The photographers will be showcasing their best images, and Chambers says they are very critical of their own work. They spend a lot of time looking over their work, deciding what to put on display, what to keep and how to show it, he adds.
“We have about 15 of our members displaying their work, Chambers says, adding the group has quite a collection of people, from Bridge Lake area, 108 Mile, 70 Mile and as far away as Kamloops.”
There will be refreshments served closer to the end of the day – around 4:30 p.m.
The photo group is for people who are interested in learning more about photography, Chambers says, adding everyone has something to share. The BLPG meets the first and third Thursday of each month to learn more about the creative and technical aspects of the art of photography and to improve their image-making techniques.
The members are very welcoming to all types of photography, Chambers says, adding it’s interesting when people are sharing as are the differences they see and their different visions.
