Former Vernon resident Greg Simison is returning to his old stomping grounds to read from his new book of poetry, Miscellaneous Wreckage, upstairs at the Bean Scene Coffee House Saturday.
Born in Guildford, England in 1946, Simison came to Canada as a child.
He is a playwright, a former newspaper columnist, and the author of three previous collections of poetry: Disturbances, The Possibilities of Chinese Trout, and What the Wound Remembers. After living in most Canadian provinces at one time or another, he currently calls Moose Jaw, Sask. home.
“Writers in Vernon will remember some of the many readings Greg gave here when he lived in Vernon. They might also remember his crazy newspaper columns or his one-act play, Lumps, directed by Rod Neufeld. It is a thrill to have him back here. Don’t miss this reading,” said John Lent.
Saturday’s reading starts at 2 p.m. and tickets are $10 in advance or at the door at the Bean Scene.
