Linda Szentes and her band Jazzlinks will perform on the House of James (2743 Emerson St.) coffeehouse stage this Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
Szentes and her band – bassist Johan Worst, pianist Roy Sluyter, drummer Zoltan Kollar and guitarist Michael Toth – present an easy-listening evening of classy music, including tuneful, toe-tapping jazz, swing, bossa, Billy Joel and the Beatles.
Music from the 1930s to the ’70s is featured, and new to their set list are tunes by Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor.
“We bring sophistication to the blues, blues to the bossa and a swinging rhythmic feel to a wide repertoire,” Szentes says.
House of James manager Lando Klassen said he is trying to “keep jazz alive” in Abbotsford.
“It happens in our town on rare occasions and hopefully this will be the start of a more regular schedule of high-quality music,” he said.
Cover charge is $10 at the door. Visit houseofjames.com for more information.
