Contemporary folk musician David Essig has made a name for himself as a musician who creates timeless songs over his 40 year career.
With roots in bluegrass and country blues he’s crafted 20 albums, with his most recent Moon on Rough Bay, released in October 2012. He created the album in his recording studio in Sointula on Malcolm Island, B.C. The musician divides his time between his home on Protection Island and Sointula.
Essig not only works in front of the microphone but also behind the scenes as a producer on more than 60 albums for artists.
Essig is bringing his original music to Nanaimo with a performance at Simon Holt Saturday (Nov. 7) at 8:30 p.m. He has made a name for himself as a master of the blues and slide guitar and is regarded as one of Canada’s finest slide guitarists. The musician has toured Europe, Canada and Australia.
