Indian music fans are in for a treat this weekend.

The Society For Indian Classical Arts, a student club at the University of Victoria, presents “An Evening of Indian Classical Music on Sitar and Tabla,” featuring “Surmani” Anupama Bhagwat on sitar and Pandit Samar Saha on tabla.

Bhagwat is part of the rare category of female Indian classical instrumentalists. The accomplished sitarist is a disciple of Pandit Bimalendu Mukherjee and a leading representative of the Imdadkhani Gharana style.

The performance happens Sunday (Sept. 11) at 7 p.m. (doors at 6:30) at the David Lam Auditorium, Room A144 in the MacLaurin Building.

Tickets are $15, $10 for students, free for children under 13. They are available at the door, or in advance by calling Sri at 250-721-2672.
