Feb. 17 marks the date for the first Lawnchair Travel flight to leave the tarmac with “Bouchair Air,” and the Flight Crew is ready!
What began as a pilot project in 2014 to bring people together on a winter’s eve has blossomed into a Travel Series enjoyed by many, complete with a Travel Agent, Pilot/Co-Pilot, Security and Flight Attendants. 2020 will be the sixth year that the Travel Series has been offered.
Each flight is charter and piloted by a different pilot. The flight includes slides (photos) and in-flight service typically made of something that pilot would have enjoyed while on their trip. Sometimes, there is music and mementos, too.
This year, our trips include the following:
• Feb. 17: Senegal with Wolfgang Hofmeier
• Feb. 24: Peru/Bolivia with Brenda Gardiner
• March 2: Egypt with Pam Devereux
• March 9: African Safari with Joan McNaughton
• March 16: New and Old Scotland with Heloise Dixon-Warren and Ted Traer
• March 23: New Zealand with Meriel Wild and Lesley Olson
• March 30: Kyrgyzstan/Kazakhstan with Nathan Davis
Take off is at 7 p.m., with most flights lasting two hours. The boarding gates and security open at 6:30 p.m., and tickets are $8 for First Class and $6 for Economy.
This year, we are offering “Frequent Flyer” points.
Most of the flights take off from the tarmac at the Bouchie Lake Hall. This year, we are chartering one “Executive Flight,” with the airport at the Elks Hall in West Quesnel.
The series is hosted by the Friends of Bouchie-Milburn Society, with proceeds going to support the Fourth Annual Billie Bouchie Day Celebrations, set for the weekend of May 30.
Thank you to the Elks Club of Quesnel and the Bouchie Lake Recreation Commission for supporting Lawnchair Travel: Bouchie Lake.
For additional information on the series, please contact Heloise, the Travel Agent, by phone at 250-249-5329 or by email at heloiseandted@gmail.com or bouchielakefriends@gmail.com.
