For the past nine years Skellig has run a big Christmas concert, Celebration Of Light, to raise funds for Ladysmith’s Soup Kitchen and Food Bank.
The demands of running such an event have been huge, and so this year they’ve have decided, to downsize and simplify the event for 2017.
This year Skellig will be playing a Christmas concert with special guest, Terry Boyle, at In The Beantime Cafe on Friday 15 December, at 6.30pm.
Tickets will be $10 for the concert or $30 for the concert and a meal, and are available at the Beantime, 18 High Street, phone: 250 245-2305.
“The event is smaller, but the cause is the same; much-needed funds for the town’s Soup Kitchen and Food Bank,” said the band’s lead vocalist Chris Burness. “Please come to donate. Twenty percent of merchandise sold will be contributed to the cause.”
Seats will be limited, but don’t let that stop you contributing. You can donate on the night, even without a ticket.
You can also drop off funds before the event, here at Light-Up, and also to Lisa in X-ray or to reception at Ladysmith Health Centre. You also have an opportunity to bring your donation on Christmas Eve to the Rock Christian Fellowship’s carol service at the Eagles Hall, 6pm, where Lisa and Chris will be leading the music.
Finally, you can download Skellig’s Christmas single, Child Of Grace, from www.skellig.ca or on Skellig’s Bandcamp page, and all proceeds will go to the cause.
If you are making a donation by cheque, please make it out to Ladysmith Resource Centre and designate which cause you are contributing to, either the Soup Kitchen or the Food bank. The Resource Centre will send a tax receipt to donations with names and addresses.
“Thank you Ladysmith for your wonderful generosity to our fundraising efforts over the last nine years and for the years to come,” Burness added.
