Every year we try to raise money for needy causes in Ladysmith.
This year we have started a new campaign, #shinethelightladysmith, for our Soup Kitchen. We are holding several events this year, hoping to reach a target of $10,000.
We have set up a download of an original Christmas song, ‘Child of Grace’ (see https://skellig.bandcamp.com/track/child-of-grace).
All funds raised from this download will go directly to the soup kitchen and, to that end, we wondered if you would consider playing the track and encouraging people to go to skelligmusic.com and press ‘donate’.
If we reach our target of $10,000, we will distribute any excess to Nanaimo needy causes.
We are also holding a music event, ‘Celebration of Light’, which we have done for the past 10 years, raising nearly $40,000 for both our food bank and soup kitchen here.
This will be on Friday 14th Dec, at In The Beantime Cafe, 18 High Street, Ladysmith. Donations will be taken on the night, in addition to monies raised from ticket sales towards this cause.
We also played on the street at this years Ladysmith Light Up and had a booth with a selfie board with the #shinethelightladysmith , so folks can give donations as they walk down the street, or take a selfie, go online and donate and share it on social media.
We are hoping to promote this campaign at upcoming gigs supporting Irish Punk band ‘The Mahones’ too – details on the Skellig website.
Finally We will be involved in The Rock Christian Fellowship’s traditional ‘Light In The Darkness’ Carol Service, on the 23rd Dec, at The Eagles Hall, downtown Ladysmith. Doors open 5.30pm. A donation box for the soup kitchen campaign will be available there.
