Staff-Sgt. Gary Clark-Marlow accepts Spring’s smooch.

The Downtown Association Billy Barker Days stage on Reid Street hosted the Smooch from the winning Pooch in the competition between Quesnel Police and Fire Departments, July 16.

Fire Chief Sylvain Gauthier and Staff Sgt. Gary Clark-Marlow were present to see which dog (dalmation or German shepherd) had raised the most funds for Crooked Leg Ranch.

The announcement of Spring, the winning dalmation, created a flurry of late donations from the crowd, but she maintained her lead over Gunner, the handsome German shepherd.

The final total was RCMP $84.09 and Fire Department $125.71.  The losing chief, Clark-Marlow, received his smooch from Spring, but Gunner was very jealous and Gauthier received a smooch as well.

Thanks to Sarah Bysted and Krystal Madriga for bringing their pooches, to the two chiefs who were such good sports and to everyone who donated to a good cause.
