Snowed In Comedy Tour returns to Vernon for seventh season

Update: Comedian Pete Zedlacher is replacing Arj Barker for the rest of the Snowed In Comedy Tour. Vernon date is Friday, Jan. 23.

For those people who have spent a week digging out of the snow from the recent storm, this show is for you.

The annual Snowed In Comedy Tour is about to drop into the Vernon Performing Arts Centre for its seventh season, Friday, Jan. 23, and the boys who make up the tour couldn’t come at a better time.

With the hills covered, their snowboards will be in full action during the day, while comedy seekers should be warming theatre seats at night.

“What first started as a way to get about the snow highway with some accommodation hook ups and lift pass perks has now turned into the world’s largest adventure comedy run,” said Alison Heuke, publicist with Snowed In.

“Dan Quinn from Edmonton, based in Vancouver, first started the tour six years ago. Every year it gets bigger, especially when we throw in huge acts like *Arj Barker from the hit TV show Flight of the Conchords*, Craig Campbell, Alberta-born, U.K.-based regular at the prestigious Just for Laughs festival, and our newest addition, Canadian Paul Myrehaug, winner of the Great Canadian Laugh off $25,000 prize.”

Last year’s Snowed In tour was the biggest one yet and received stellar reviews, with The Georgia Straight saying “I wish the show was longer.”

The tour played 29 shows in 23 cities to almost 10,000 people in western Canada and second shows were added in eight cities, after the first shows sold out.

Late shows were added in Kamloops, Prince George, and Calgary. It was also the first year that a European tour was added, with the comedians playing to another 3,000 people in Zurich, Geneva, Verbier, Chamonix, Basel, Meribel, and Tignes.

After the Canadian leg of this year’s tour, the boys will be heading back to Europe, with Norway added to the roster.

*Update from Snowed in Comedy Tour: “We have some bad news but hopefully you will still be happy with the change. Arj Barker has to leave the tour for a family emergency and is flying back to Australia on Jan 22. It is a tough loss as Arj is a great comedian and friend. We have however replaced him with Pete Zedlacher.”

From booming metropolis of Wawa, Ont., Pete Zedlacher is a five-time nominee and winner of the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Male Stand-up. He also recently won Sirius XM’s nation-wide comedy competition earning him the title of Sirius XM’s Top Comic. He has also made eight appearances at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival and numerous appearances at the Halifax and Winnipeg Comedy Festivals.
