Come visit the Rollin Art Centre beginning Jan. 12 for our new art exhibit titled, “Sockeye King”, featuring artist Doug Blackwell.
Blackwell will be showcasing his collection of watercolours and mixed media with a fish and seashore theme.
Join us in the gallery this Saturday, Jan. 14 from 1–3 p.m., for refreshments and a chance to meet the artist and ask about his artwork.
Burns supper
The 34th annual Robbie Burns Supper, presented by the Port Alberni Highland Dancers Association, takes place Saturday, Jan. 28 at Echo Centre, which is a new location this year. The dinner honours the Scottish poet Robbie Burns.
The evening will feature a traditional roast beef dinner, address of the haggis, Highland dancing, bagpipes, Scottish country dancing and Celtic harp. Doors open at 5 p.m., entertainment begins at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children 12 & under and are available at the Rollin Art Centre (cash only), Alter Ego, and Echo Centre.
Musical Memories
This weekend is your last chance to share in 80 years of “Musical Memories” at the Capitol Theatre! Portal Players tickets are still available for the Jan. 13 and Jan. 14 performances at the Capitol.

Film fest returns
The Alberni Valley Museum is proud to present the 2017 Winter Film Festival series, featuring four films, to play Sundays at the Paramount Theatre. Screen times are 5 p.m.
Jan. 29 – Maliglutit /Searchers – Canada/Inuit.
Feb. 26 – Old Stone – Canada/China.
March 26 – Tulip Fever, featuring Dame Judi Dench, from the United Kingdom/ US.
April 23 – to be announced (the film fest committee is working on bringing in something special).
A series pass for all four films costs $35 while single films are $10 each. Tickets are available at the AV Museum.
