Songwriter Abigail Lapell explores issues of love and loss on her latest album Hide Nor Hair.

The Toronto based performer, known for her folk-noir songwriting, delves into these themes through stories of travel to both urban and wild locations. She combines indie, folk-roots and punk rock traditions in her music.

On Hide Nor Hair, Lapell worked with Chris Stringer to perfect the sound.

It also features drummer Banjamin Hermann, viola player Rachael Cardiello, bassist Joe Ernewein, backup vocalist Jessica Moore and Mike Eckert on pedal steel.

Lapell has toured across North America and Europe and completed two tours entirely on bicycle and two tours by canoe.

In 2016 Lapell received the Ontario Arts Council’s Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award for her piano ballad called Jordan.

Lapell performs with special guests Ben Zyakin and Max Pittet tonight (June 20) at 7 p.m. at the White Room, located at 4 Church St.

Admission is $10 at the door.
