For the second year in a row, artists have come together to show their work at ARTiFACTS.

This year’s show takes place from April 10 to May 29 at the upper gallery at the Sooke Region Museum, with 10 artists taking part.

Three women with the same name are organizing the show and exhibition with Linda Gordon taking the lead. Lynda Slater and Linda Anderson complete the trio.

“Everything in the show has Sooke as a theme, whether they are inspired by the landscape, colors or the flowers growing in the area,” Gordon said.

There will be a “soft” opening on April 10 and a much larger, more extravagant event on April 16 where artists from throughout the region can come together and mingle, network and have some fun.

Sooke Community Arts Council members will be in attendance to share tips on how they create their art, photography, fibre art and carvings.

They will say how they are inspired by the scenic beauty of the region and they hope many of them will share their art by wearing it. Artists and artisans don’t need to be members of the Sooke Community Arts Council to take part.

Gordon said they will don their scarves, jewelry, and other wearable creations from noon to 5 p.m. at the gallery to share, advertise what they do and add some colour to the event. There will also be artists selling art cards, prints and promoting some of the other arts such as dance, music and even yoga.

Gordon invites everyone with a creative interest to come join in on the fun.

“We hope for a good mixture of things to share. It’s a time to meet other artists in the area.”

She noted that during the duration of the show, artwork can be taken away as it is sold.

“People don’t have to wait until the end of the show to purchase work,” she said.

Gordon said the museum has many tourists who come to visit and the artists have included some “suitcase art” which fits nicely into their baggage if they choose to purchase something they like.

ARTiFACTS is open during regular museum hours, from Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Museum is located at 2070 Phillips Road.
