Pianist Sarah Hagen continues with Surrey Arts Centre’s popular Classical Coffee Concert series, with the next concert welcoming soprano Robyn Driedger-Klassen.
Described as having a “golden rounded voice”, the Saskatchewan native is in high demand in the opera field, having been seen on many Canadian opera stages, in roles such as Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni).
Hagen has been heard in concert halls and on the airwaves throughout North America and Europe and last season, performed twice at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.
Surrey audience members are invited to make themselves at home visiting and enjoying coffee and pastries in the lobby, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 13. The 75-minute concert begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Studio Theatre.
The duo will perform a rich programme of well-loved Art Song (a musical style where piano and voice have equal expression) in German, French, Spanish and Italian followed by a set of traditional Spirituals, finishing with three silly songs (including The Girl in 14G, written by Jeanine Tesori).
Tickets are $25, available by calling 604-501-5566 or online at tickets.surrey.ca. Surrey Arts Centre is located at 13750 88 Ave.
