Come and wrap yourself up in the warm, ethereal and ever soulful musical stylings of Bre McDaniel and Jenny Banai.
The two perform Friday, Feb. 24 at the Acoustic Emporium.
McDaniel’s music has been described as “magic on toast.” She is an interdisciplinary artist born and based in Vancouver. The smokey softness of her voice can be tissue-paper delicate, haunting, or beaming with soulful conviction.
Last fall dawned the release of Banai’s debut, ‘flowering head’. Having collaborated with fairy folk artist, Jordan Klassen, a dreamy yet vibrant sound emerged. Surprising melodies and liturgical poems, cushion her voice – radiant as the sun with the solace of a wind chime.
Special guest opener will be Kuri, a recording artist based in Abbotsford. Performing for several years with his group, Oh Village, listeners have come to appreciate his honest songwriting and intriguing musicianship. Now he experiments further with bold arrangements of classical instrumentation paired with modern alternative structures.
Bre McDaniel and Jenny Banai, with special guest Kuri, perform at the Acoustic Emporium (45892 Wellington Ave.) on Friday, Feb. 24. Doors open 7 p.m. Tickets $12 at the door.
