as she aims to make her directorial debut.
Ellie Harvie, well-known in theatre and television circles – including for her role as Morticia in The New Addams Family – is pitching a short film, Scattered, to Storyhive, which offers production grants, and well as distribution through Telus Optik TV.
The film is set to be Harvie’s directorial debut.
A second group of Lower Mainland filmmakers is also vying for a Storyhive grant, for their short film, Severed Nights.
Both movies will vie for grants through an online vote at www.storyhive.com, which runs until Friday (Sept. 23)
According to a news release, Scattered, written by Chilliwack writer Audrey Martin, follows two characters, Amy and Cynthia on “a somewhat haphazard journey to scatter the ashes of their friend, Barb.”
Harvie said the film should strike a chord with a large audience.
“Everyone is affected by loss and how relationship dynamics shift as a result of losing a friend or loved one,” she said.
The winning project will need to be completed by Jan. 16, and will screen through Optik TV in February.
