Shuswap jazz

Shuswap Jazz at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at the SAGA Public Art Gallery features the Toronto-based Griffith Hiltz Trio that produces a melodic jazz sound that is at once familiar and exotic. Admission is by donation.

Opera

The Met:  Live in HD presents John Adam’s Nixon in China, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Salmar Classic Theatre.  Running time three hours.  Tickets $24 at the door or online at salmartheatre.com.

Reel deal

Shuswap Film Society presents The Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Feb. 12 at the Salmar Classic Theatre. The society’s annual International Film Festival reels out Friday, Feb. 25 to March 5 at the Salmar Grand and Salmar Classic.

Grandmothers’ gift

Spirit Quest presents For the Next 7 Generations, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 at the Salmar Classic Theatre. Tickets at $10 are available at Spirit Quest on Lakeshore Drive. 

Classic films

Okanagan College’s Classics at the Classic presents Casablanca at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14 at the Salmar Classic. Next up, on March 7, is 2001: A Space Odyssey Tickets at $5 for adults or $3 for students are available at the door.

Write stuff

Youth concert

Several young community members present an evening of classical and acoustic music in a Young Musicians Benefit Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at SAGA Public Art Gallery. All proceeds go to the Free the Children Fund.

Stage play 

Shuswap Theatre presents Wrong for Each Other Feb. 25 to March 5. This romantic comedy by Norm Foster is directed by Kim Macmillan and stars Stephen Hiscock and Kaitlan Hunter. Shows run at 8 p.m. nightly, with a 1:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Feb 27. No evening show Sunday and Monday night. Two for one tickets are available at the door on Tuesday, March 1.  Tickets for all other shows are $17 for adults, $10 for students (no HST), and are available at Wearabouts or at the door.

Delta views

SAGA Public Art Gallery presents Paint Paradise: Views of the Salmon River Delta, multi-media works by SAGA members. Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
