Gallery jazz

The SAGA Gallery Jazz Club presents a family jazz band from Kelowna; Stephen Buck on reeds, with sons Simon and Alex, drums and piano, accompanied by Bernie Addington on bass at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the SAGA Public Art Gallery. Admission is by donation.

Shuswap Film Society presents The Debt, a U.S. espionage thriller, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. at Salmar Classic Theatre.

Audition call

Shuswap Theatre Christmas show auditions for Stressmas, a quirky Christmas musical, directed by Lana Caputti, Oct. 16 and 17, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 34 of the Downtown Activity Centre, 451 Shuswap Street. Actors, singers, dancers, musicians and technicians ages 14 to 20-plus are needed. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and gain experience with outstanding instructors. Inspirational speaker

Spencer West is a young man who lost his legs at the age of five. He speaks of overcoming stereotyping and bullying and overcoming personal obstacles. Banquet benefit

The Ducks Unlimited banquet at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, will feature great entertainment, silent auctions, live auctions, raffles and other games of chance. Tickets are $40 each and are available through Tove Jensen at 250-832-4000.

 

 

Books ‘n’ bread

The Shuswap Association of Writers’ annual Books ‘n’ Bread Sale takes place at the Mall at Piccadilly Oct. 21 to 23.
