Holiday train

The CP Rail holiday train to benefit the local food bank rolls into Salmon Arm at the Lordco parking lot at 6:45 p.m. tonight, Dec. 14. Enjoy entertainment by Canadian icon Valdy and other acts, hot chocolate and hotdogs. Take a cash or non-perishable food donation.

 

 

Theatre

Star search

Moonlight Music Star Search will be at the Mall at Piccadilly on Friday, Dec 16. Kids (ages 6-10) and youth (ages 11-18) will have a chance to showcase their musical talents, perform in front of a live audience, and compete for awards in front of a panel of judges. Breakfast with Santa

Downtown Salmon Arm hosts Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at the SAGA Public Art Gallery.

 

 

Elves’ workshop

SAGA Public Art Gallery hosts an elves’ workshop from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 with four Christmas-themed art-making stations in the gallery. The workshop is aimed at families with children ages five to 12, accompanied by an adult. While you’re there, browse the Affordable Art Fair, featuring 20 local artists with nearly 100 works all priced under $200.

 

 

Bolshoi Ballet

Salmar Theatre presents Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker live via satellite at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Salmar Classic Theatre. Tickets are $22 for adults and $11 for youth.

 

 

Christmas production

Shuswap Community Church at 3151 Sixth Ave. NE presents God With Us – A Christmas Experience at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 through Wednesday, Dec. 21. Tickets are $5. Take a non-perishable food item for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

 

 

Sczebel Christmas

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time With Greg Sczebel and Friends features Sczebel and his band, as well as storyteller James Murray, at 7:30 Thursday, Dec. 22 at the Salmar Classic. Tickets at $15 in advance go on sale Dec. 1 at Tangles Hair Salon in the Mall at Picadilly, Java Jive and Acorn Music on Lakeshore Drive. Or tickets are $18 at the door.
