First United Church will provide entertainment, discussion and refreshments Wednesday nights during the thought-provoking Lenten Journey, designed to inspire. Don’t miss the great little animated movie with a message for all ages, UP, on March 30.
Gallery jazz
Gallery Jazz Night, Thursday, March 31 features a special concert with Toronto vocalist Julie Michels and guitarist Kevin Barrett, on a western Canada tour at 7 p.m. at the SAGA Public Art Gallery. Suggested donation is $10. Sandy Cameron and Friends are back April 7.
Life cycles
The Salmon Arm premier of the bike movie, Life Cycles will be held at the Salmar Classic Theatre at 7 p.m. April 1. Door prizes, include a dirt jump bike donated by Ridetech and the CSRD. Tickets at $10 are available at Ridetech and at the door.
Looking back
The Salmopn Arm branch of the Okanagan Historical Society holds their AGM at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3 at the Downtown Seniors Drop-in Centre on Hudson Avenue. Loretta Greenhough, whose father worked as a deckhand on the ferry that connected Sorrento and Scotch Creek before the bridge was built at Squilax, will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Sasha Lewis brings her tour with duet group Seth and Shara of Mamaguroove to the SAGA Public Art Gallery Sunday, April 3 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $9 at the door. The deadline to vote for Lewis in the People’s Choice category of the BC Interior Music Association awards is April 9. Add your vote for her at www.bcima.org.

Shuswap Film Society presents The Way Back, starring Ed Harris at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Salmar Classic Theatre.
Film fare
Okanagan College’s Classics at the Classics wraps up with Stanley Kubrick’s brilliant Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 4 at the Salmar Classic. Tickets are $5 each, or $3 for students and proceeds from the film will go to the Red Cross for aid to Japan.
Fine dining
Shuswap Arts Council and SAGA Public Art Gallery partner to present April in Paris Sunday, April 10, a five course French dinner prepared by Blue Canoe’s Al Boucher, plus French entertainment and surprises. Tickets (only 40 available) at $100 each will help raise funds for the gallery’s washroom renovation. Get them at the art gallery or Blue Canoe Bakery Café.
