The South Cariboo pours on the entertainment throughout the months of February and March, including everything from an intimate evening of western music and poetry to a visit to the streets of ancient Rome.

On Feb. 11, Martin Exeter Hall opens its doors to the 2012 100 Mile House Cowboy Concert.

It’s a popular annual event that showcases some of the best western-style musicians and storytellers in British Columbia. The concert is normally a sellout, drawing its audience from all over the province.

The show this year includes child performer Jayden Stafford from Fort St. John, storyteller Gord Colliar from Merritt, young guitarist, Dale McEachern from Fort St. John, and The Loose Rooster Band with Jim Karr and Dan Fremlin from the Kamloops area.

Show times are 2 and 7 p.m. with tickets priced at $15 at 100 Mile Feed, Work and Play, and at The Log House Apparel, Tack and Harness at 811 Alder Ave. People can also reserve by contacting Mark McMillan at 250-456-2425.

Later on in the month, go back in time with the 100 Mile Performing Arts Society to a neighbourhood from the days of the great Roman Empire.

The society’s annual spring musical this year is A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, a hilarious and clever farce, full of puns, cases of mistaken identity and satirical comments about social class.

It’s adult humour at its finest, and the cast, led by director Marie Hooper and producer Jan Richmond, has been having a lot of fun with it. Due to its mature content, though, children are best left at home for this one.

Performances take place at Martin Exeter Hall Feb. 23-25 and March 1-3, with one show each night at 7 p.m. and 1 p.m. matinees Feb. 25 and March 3.

Tickets are $15 and available at Donex, Didi’s and Curves.

On March 11, The Wolf radio presents Cline and Cash Country Legends, a tribute to Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.

It takes place at Martin Exeter Hall, with show time at 7:30 p.m.

David James, as Cash, with his band, Big River, performs all of the legendary artist’s great hits spanning five decades of his career. Tunes such as Folsom Prison, I Walk the Line and Ring of Fire are only a few.

Sara-Jeanne Hosie is said to be a dead-ringer for country singer Patsy Cline, and sings from her heart and soul, playing tribute to the artist.

Tickets are $35 (cash only) at Donex.
