Join Gilligan and the Gang for the sixth annual Rotary Dinner Fundraiser this Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Best Western Barclay Hotel ballroom.
This year’s theme is island cruising; participants are encouraged to dress the part.
Quality Foods has donated a three-hour tour for six people aboard the SS Minnow of Gilligan’s Island fame (yes, for real!). Minimum bids start at $2,500 so bring your chequebook.
The Quality Foods family purchased the SS Minnow, made famous on the 1960s Gilligan’s Island television show. The Minnow ran aground on an uncharted deserted isle after a three-hour tour, stranding Skipper, Gilligan, the Professor, Ginger, Mary Ann and the Howells.
Ken Schley, one of Quality Foods’ founders, purchased the boat in 2008.
The SS Minnow has been refurbished and is now used for fundraising events.
The Rotary dinner fundraising evening features dinner, entertainment, live and silent auctions, and live music courtesy of the ADSS band. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $40 per person or $300 for a table of eight and available at Scotiabank. Please call 250-720-4422 ext. 4000 for info.
Proceeds go toward school breakfast programs, student bursaries and the ADSS band.SS M
