The British are coming! The British are coming!
Victoria’s 75-voice Starlight Pops ensemble, directed by Sue Doman, salutes the Land of Hope and Glory with British Invasion – a celebration of award-winning hits by British composers and recording artists.
“There’s something in this concert for everyone,” Doman said.
“The program spans eight decades of Brit hits, from 1940 to the present day. You’ll hear classics from the Beatles, Adele, the Rolling Stones, Petula Clark, Manfred Mann, Elton John, Sting, U2 and many others.”
Founded in 2008 by Doman, a well-known Victoria conductor and vocalist, Starlight Pops is a mixed-voice choir backed by a four-piece combo led by Victoria pianist Peter Rothhauser.
The concert also includes special performances by small ensembles as well as soloists including Doman.
“Whether you sit back and listen, or sing along, this concert is bound to be your cup of tea. You’re sure to enjoy the familiar tunes, unique arrangements, and exciting harmonies,” Doman said.
British Invasion will be performed on Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 1 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Aidan’s United Church, 3703 St. Aidan’s St.
