The McMillan Arts Centre is not just for adults and two shows this Saturday will prove the point.

Holiday Stories and Songs for Children will feature experienced storyteller Marva Blackmore, who runs the series Stories for the Telling at the centre, and musician Dave Klinger.

“I wanted to put this on to show that the MAC is for all ages, to work with Marva in a storytelling and musical event and to have some fun with children,” said Klinger, a former elementary school teacher.

Klinger will play the piano and sing at the event.

The stories Blackmore will tell are about the magic of giving gifts, whether they be gifts to family, people less fortunate, special gifts or funny gifts.

Since tickets for the first event at 1 p.m. on Dec. 21 nearly sold out, organizers decided to add another show at 3 p.m. that day. The show runs for an hour and costs $5 per child, while adults accompanying them are free.

Tickets can be purchased at the McMillan Arts centre (the MAC) which is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The MAC is located at 133 McMillan Street in Parksville. For more information visit www.mcmillanartscentre.com or call 250-248-8185.
