Streaming with youth dance

Parksville's Dancestreams Youth Dance Company is hosting its annual Dance Odyssey this Saturday, Feb.5 in Nanaimo with over 200 guest artists performing everything from classical ballet and jazz to hip hop.

Parksville’s Dancestreams Youth Dance Company is hosting its annual Dance Odyssey this Saturday, Feb.5 in Nanaimo with over 200 guest artists performing everything from classical ballet and jazz to hip hop.

Performers in the show will be coming from all over the Island, including students from Qualicum Beach School of Dance and Parksville Ballet School.

Dancestreams, a registered charity, will also offer two world premiers of new works by Vancouver-based choreographer Sara Coffin and Canadian dance icon Serge Bennathan.

The show, being held at the Port Theatre, starts at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets at www.porttheatre.com or at the Port Box Office. 

Master classes are also being offered at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo for dancers aged 10 and up from 11-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb.5. These classes teach dancers the latest in contemporary dance. Pre-registration is recommended.
