Students pay tribute to Guess Who

Wentworth concert shows support for Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation

Fans of the Guess Who can get a little sugar Sunday night when students from Vernon’s Wentworth Music Education Centre pay tribute to one of Canada’s biggest rock acts of the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Back after successful odes to The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac last year, the students will perform all The Guess Who’s biggest hits such as No Time, American Woman, and No Sugar Tonight, as well as songs from guitarist Randy Bachman’s other hit group, BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive.)

“The students do a great job performing these concerts,” said Noel Wentworth, vice president of education and media at Wentworth Music. “To see the excitement at rehearsals with all of them playing in a group environment is really something.”

Sponsored by Wentworth and Interior Savings, all proceeds from the event will go to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, and specifically towards children’s care.

“Along with their weekly lessons, these performances put on twice a year by the education centre keep the kids involved in a positive activity with a goal of putting on a real rock concert that will ultimately benefit the Vernon community,” said Wentworth. “It’s our sincerest way of saying thank you.”

A Tribute to The Guess Who is Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Vernon Recreation Centre. Tickets are now on sale at Wentworth Music in Vernon, and cost $15/adult, $8/student. More information is available at www.wmec.ca.
