A musical extravaganza will take place March 17, 18 and 19 to celebrate the birthday and remembrance of Doug Supple, a local musician who passed away Dec. 2 here in the Comox Valley.

The event, sponsored by the Mex Pub, Pacific Disturbance and Hatrack Productions, will be at the Mex starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday.

Thursday starts the celebration with a Super Jam in recognition of one of Supple’s most well-known activities here in the Valley for almost two decades. Friday brings the reuniting of bands that he was a part of over that same time period, with two special guest bands opening the night and Pacific Disturbance wrapping up the evening.

Saturday brings in even more local acts and solo performances all night long, and again Pacific Disturbance will close the evening. With more than a dozen different band performances, solo artists and jammers, this will be an action-packed weekend for music lovers far and wide.

Admission is pay-what-you-can donations at the door, with the Mex Pub also donating a portion of every food order to the cause. All proceeds will go to Supple’s immediate surviving family.

Visit the Doug Supple Appreciation Page on Facebook for more details and a schedule of performances.
