Surrey’s Lyric Singers are bringing an evening of song and poetry to an intimate venue in North Delta.
The choir’s “Call & Response” concert will take place at Firehall Centre for the Arts on Saturday evening (Oct. 22), starting at 7 p.m., in partnership with Pandora’s Collective.
The event will also feature new poetry by Heidi Greco, Alan Girling, Angela Rebrec (a longtime member of Lyric Singers), Mariner Janes and Jude Neale.
The a capella women’s choir is led by music director Nancy Rahn, with Betty Suderman on piano.
Saturday’s showcase will be hosted by Bonnie Nish, executive director of Pandora’s Collective Outreach Society.
The Lyric Singers choir, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2014, rehearses at Northwood United Church in Surrey on Monday evenings.

Seaquam Secondary’s fine arts students will be showing their paintings at the event as well, in the Gallery Room, Rebrec told the Now. “Their theme ties in nicely with the concert, as they too are creating work inspired by the works of other painters.”
Tickets for the “Call & Response” concert are $20 each, or $18 for students and seniors. The event will include a cash bar, with wine and cheese. For tickets and more event information, call 604-952-3000 or 604-626-6362; tickets are also available at the door.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the venue, located at 11489 84th Ave., Delta.
