Canada’s largest professional dance company, Ballet Jorgen Canada, performed Tchaikovsky’s ballet, Swan Lake, at the Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) in Burns Lake on Feb. 12, 2013. Described by the Lakes District Arts Council as the ‘most ambitious production in seven festival seasons’, the show was completely sold out by the time the curtains were drawn back.
Several LDSS students, fresh off their recent Footloose production, participated in the play as 18th century peasants, children, ballroom attendants, fortress guards, court pages, and ladies in waiting. Their presence on stage was seamless with the professional cast.
