Tales for the Telling is back this Friday at the McMillan Arts Centre.
Hear stories from Attar and Rumi, two towering figures of the Persian tradition who were among its best storytellers. This performance will be in two parts, each one dedicated to one of these two storytellers and poets.
The Nov. 18 event starts at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m.
This Tales for the Telling is called the Seven Cities of Love: Tales Told in Desert Tents featuring Ariel Balevi.
Balevi is a storyteller who derives his repertoire from the folklore traditions of Iran, Turkey and Central Asia.
He performs these stories in English and has told stories in Toronto, Washington, D.C., Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa.
He strives to present the universality of these narratives to bring about mutual respect and understanding among different cultures.
Tickets are $15 or $12 for Oceanside Community Arts Council members and are available at the MAC (133 McMillan Street, Parksville), online or by phoning the Arts Centre (250-248-8185). Remaining tickets will be available at the door.
