Tapestry Women’s Choir is celebrating its 10th anniversary Saturday with a fun and flamboyant tribute to iconic women such as Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Celine Dion, Etta James, Linda Ronstadt and Peggy Lee to name a few.
“From the 1930s to 2016, these fabulous female artists have all made their mark in our hearts and souls. Whether you enjoy jazz standards, country, musical theatre or pop music, you’ll probably know and may want to sing along with almost every song,” said Dorianne Kohl, a Tapestry member for the past 10 years.
For this performance, choir members are breaking free from their traditional black pants/black shirt attire.
“Singers will be resplendent with colour (mainly gold, silver and purple), sparkling jewelry and accessories,” said Kohl. “We’re abandoning ourselves to the dramatic musicality and essence of theses fabulous women divas.”
Joining Tapestry will be the Fireflies Children’s Choir, a youth choir also directed by longtime Len Wood Middle School music teacher Deborah Mehes.
The audience is welcome to join along and dress in their finest to celebrate in the passion, the sentimentality and the joy of reminiscing.
Tapestry gives two concerts at the Armstrong Bible Chapel Saturday, April 30 at 4 and 7 p.m. Tickets are at the Brown Derby Café and Your Dollar Store With More in Armstrong, or by calling 250-546-8308.
