Tenore presents a singalong like no other

Award-winning group that burst onto the Canadian Gospel music scene in 2011, will visit Campbell River

Tenore, an award-winning group that burst onto the Canadian Gospel music scene in 2011, will visit seven B.C. cities, with a stop in Campbell River on Friday, May 4 at Discovery Church – the old Galaxy Theatre – for an evening concert at 7 p.m.

Founded by Jill Ann Siemens, also Founder of  multi-platinum recording artists,  The Canadian Tenors, Tenore has received tremendous acclaim in its short time together. Nominated for awards in an incredible seven categories at the 2011GMA Covenant Awards, Tenore walked away with three plaques. This included Traditional/Classical Album of the Year and Traditional/Classical Song of the Year. Remarkably, Tenore took home the Blessings Fan Choice Award, voted by fans across the country, despite being merely a write-in option on the ballot. Most recently, Tenore has been invited to perform in Ottawa for the 2012 Prime Minister’s National Convention.

Tenore consists of three vibrant and superior tenor voices – Shane Wiebe, Jason Catron, and Mark David Williams. Having performed in concert for over 30,000 people with national television appearances on 100 Huntley Street and Crystal Cathedral, Tenore is touring in support of their self-titled debut album. Recorded in Nashville and in Prague, the album includes unforgettable renditions  such as How Great Thou Art  as well as traditional and classic favourites such as You’ll Never Walk Alone and The Lord’s Prayer. The album also includes Sempre Vicino; A Child’s Prayer for Peace, the multiple award-winning Tipperary Peace Convention’s,  International Song of Peace written by Siemens.

Sing! Events is not just tenor talent. It is a powerful musical event, showcasing talent from a pool of well-known and up and coming artists, coupled with audience participation, singing tunes we all know and love. It creates a profoundly moving experience of thousands of voices singing together.

“I have always envisioned a project where people would join in on singing choruses together,” said Siemens. “It doesn’t matter if you have a crowd of 5,000 young people thundering We Will Rock You or a 5,000 strong congregation singing How Great thou Art, there is something therapeutic,  powerful and indescribable in thousands of voices joining together.”

Wiebe, a former top-five contestant on Canadian Idol whom Lionel Richie once described as a “talent that is unrivalled,” believes the song choices are what endear audiences to Tenore.  He notes, “What’s interesting about our music is that the melody is always very familiar, allowing audiences to sing along. Tenore takes these familiar songs and infuses an adrenaline rush.”

Williams admits that the connection from the group’s growing fan base has been energizing and humbling, “It’s amazing to watch how much we can accomplish together, but the true joy comes when we are able to hit the stage and share these treasured and timeless songs.”

Catron agrees, “These songs are a natural fit for us – both in voice and heart, which allows us to effortlessly lead and connect with so many in singing new arrangements of these great classics.”

Tenore will perform for roughly 90 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.

Tickets can be purchased at Cornerstone Gift, Book & Music, the Discovery Church Office, online at TicketWindow.ca, or at the door. Visit www.singtenore.com for more information.
