Concerts

Dec. 1 to 3 — Hairspray! the Musical at Princess Margaret Secondary.

Dec. 2 — Sergei and Nikolai Saratovsky, pianists, will perform at the Frank Venables Theatre, Oliver, at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $22.50, available online with assigned seating at www.venablestheatre.ca or at the door.

Dec. 3 — The Colours of Winter will be presented by Sage Valley Voices community choir at 7 p.m. as well as an afternoon performance on Dec. 4 at 2:30 p.m. Both performances are at the Oliver United Church. Tickets are $10 at the door including free refreshments after each performance. Donations to the Oliver food bank are gratefully accepted.

Dec. 4 — Jeremy Head plays Cannery Brewing Co. from 6 to 8 p.m. No cover.

Dec. 4 — Benefit concert for UNHCR, Canada’s work with Iraqi refugees. Musicians include: Tracy Fehr, Dennis Nordlund (piano), Seraphim (a cappella chorale) at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church. Tickets $15.

Dec. 6 — The Penticton Concert Band celebrates seasonal highlights with From Classics to Christmas.  Music includes works from Gustav Holst, Ravel, Mannheim Steamroller and more.  Tickets $15  and $5 for youth/students, available through the church, from band members or at the door.

Dec. 8 to 10 — Hairspray! the Musical returns for a second run, this time at the Cleland Theatre. Presented by Princess Margaret Secondary School.

Dec. 9 — The Musaic Vocal Ensemble performs their Christmas concert at St. Savior’s Anglican Church at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15 for adults and $5 for students, available at The Dragon’s Den.

Dec. 10 — The Musaic Vocal Ensemble takes their Christmas concert to Summerland at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. Tickets $15 for adults, $5 for students, available at James on Kelly Hair Studio in Summerland.

Dec. 10 — The 12th annual From our Hearts this Christmas gospel concert. Free admission,but.cash donations and non-perishable food items are greatly needed and accepted at the door. Show starts at 7 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 290 Warren Ave W. Penticton.

Dec. 11 — The Darylectones play Cannery Brewing Co. No cover.

Dec. 28 — Home For the Holidays, a concert of classical love songs starts at the Summerland United Church at 7 p.m.

Events

Dec. 1 to 4 — First Chair Festival at Mt. Baldy Enjoy Firehall Brewery beer sampling and a film premiere! Tons of prizes to give away, including special goodies set aside for those who dress up like it’s 1968.

Dec, 3 — The 19th annual Royal LePage Locations West Realty Santa Claus Parade starts at 4 p.m. from Main Street, starting at White Avenue, heading to Front Street.

Dec. 3 — Front Street Gallery presents guest artist Mairead Sikkes. The Irish-born painter is attending the opening at the gallery from 1 to 3 p.m.

Dec. 3 — Ken Lavigne’s Christmas Roadshow visits the Cleland Community Theatre. The show also will be at the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver on Dec. 4.

Dec. 8 — Pecha Kucha, a speaker series with the theme of Suriving Winter (and other calamaties). Tickets $10 in advance, $15 at the door at Cannery Brewing Co.

Dec. 10 — The Martin Street Art and Music Gallery hosts a winter fashion show and sale from 1 to 3 p.m featuring Sass Boutique as well as Susan Lofatecki’s unique designs. Traditional luncheon and sherry, dessert and tea. Draws and door prizes. Tickets $48 available at the gallery.
