Oct. 20 — The South Okanagan Concert Society presents Quartetto Gelato, known as the Cirque du Soleil of classical music. Virtuosic showpieces, romantic tenor arias, pyrotechnical solos, multi-instruments and a world accordion champion. Oct. 11 — Author Laura Michelle Thomas will be at Coles Books in Cherry Lane Shopping Centre to promote her new novel The Naked Storyteller from 1 to 5 p.m.

Oct. 18 — Apple Day at the Keremeos Grist Mill and Gardens. Pancake breakfast from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and a barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. Family entertainment by Mat Duffus from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Apple pie contest judging at 1 p.m. Traditional games, music and the Heritage Players will present a 1890s melodrama at noon. Half-price admission and children six years and under are free.
Oct. 18 — Penticton’s Oktoberfest at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. Beer, food and dancing. All money raised at the event is donated back into the community.
Oct. 18 — Ground breaking ceremony for Penticton’s first public edible garden at Village by the Station (270 Hastings Ave.). Bring a plant or seeds for the garden. Kid’s games, learning stations, silent auction, cooking demonstrations, live performances and bring your own homegrown produce and homemade preserves to swap with neighbours. From noon to 3 p.m.
Oct. 19 and 22 — Auditions are happening for Cake-walk, happening at the Shatford Centre in May. Four females (early 20s to 3aely 50s and two males, late 30s and any age for an announcer). Oct. 26 — Andy’s Animal Acres second annual 101 Pumpkin Halloween Event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first 101 kids to come in costume will receive their own pumpkin with admission. Pumpkin carving contest at noon with prizes, bring your own ideas and utensils. Apple bobbing, pony rides, face painting, popcorn and drinks. Admission is $7, children under one year old are free and a family of four is $25.
Oct. 31 — Medieval Banquet, enjoy Halloween night with a six-course meal and live music from the Middle Ages brought to you by St. Andrew’s Presbyterian. Advance tickets are $33. Costumes encouraged.
