CONCERTS

March 8 — Pen High Music Department presents the Off Ramp Jazz Sextet with special guests Silly String Theory. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Show is at 7:30 p.m. at the Cleland Community Theatre.

March 8 and 9 — Rita Chiarelli, Canada’s most highly acclaimed female roots and blues artist is performing at the Dream Café. Tickets are $36.

March 9 — Heart is performing at the South Okanagan Events Centre on their Fanatic Tour with opening act Simon Townshend.

March 9 — Canada’s own world-acclaimed Christian Youth Orchestra is performing at the Bethel Tabernacle in Penticton at 4:30 p.m. Free admission.

March 10 — 40 Sons, an Ontario-based rock quartet will be at Voodoo’s at 9 p.m. With accolades including featured play on Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events, attaining Hard Rock Cafe’s Ambassadors Of Rock Champions for all of Canada, beating out over 1,000 acts in the 2008 Bodog Battle Of The Bands National Champions and receiving the Hamilton Music Awards’ 2007 Local Group Of The Year.

March 12 — Natalie Choquette a unique multilingual classical entertainer who presents opera with an irresistible humorous twist is performing at the Cleland Community Theatre. Tickets are $25 and show is at 7:30 p.m.

March 15 — Belle Plaine brings her Western Canadian tour to Penticton at 8:30 p.m. at Elite Cafe. Suggested donation of $10.

March 16 — Carlos Del Junco and the Blues Mongrels at the Dream Café. Tickets are $28.

March 20 — Showcase Penticton at Opus Café featuring Gail Riddall, Middlechild and Penticton’s Own Flashback. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students including taxes and available in advance or at the door.

March 24 — Penticton Tune Agers choir and orchestra present Look to the Rainbow concert at 2:30 p.m. at the Cleland Theatre in Penticton. Tickets are $15 and available at the Penticton & Wine Country Visitors Centre.

March 30 — Mad Melody Records presents hip hop dance off at Fibonacci’s at 7:30 p.m. Hip-hop and DJ collaboration show features Noize.fm’s Stepone and Wolftrack along with Mad Melody emcees JDK Nonstop, Toxik Emissonz, and MC Bodhi. Plus Special DJ guest Colten Morelli. All ages event and there will be a $5 cover charge.

April 5 — Relive the music of Elvis Presley with Elvis — The Moments featuring Pete Paquette, a two-time Collingwood Grand Champion, Toronto Elvis Festival Grand Champion, Top 10 in Memphis and voted Las Vegas Elvis Festival best performer. He will be supported by Rudy and the Angels band. Show is 7:30 p.m. at the Cleland Community Theatre. Tickets are $35 and available at the Penticton Community Centre or by calling 250-492-2426.

April 20 — Motley Crue with special guest Big Wreck at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Aug. 3 — Alan Jackson with special guest at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Sept. 6 to 8 — 17th annual Pentastic Jazz Festival.

EVENTS

March 8 to 10 — Biography of a Voice, a contemporary theatre and vocal performance piece that stretches the boundaries and concepts of classical voice. Written and performed by Penticton artist Mia Harris, Biography of a Voice plays at the Cannery Stage March 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee at 3 p.m. on March 10. Tickets are available at Opus Café, CoWork Penticton, The Bench Market and Tumbleweed Gallery.

March 9 — Join wineries from the Naramata Bench at Apex Mountain Resort for the first Vertical and Vintages Wine Festival. Chef Rob Walker will be at the Gunbarrel Saloon for a mountain high wine tasting in the relaxed and retro après ski atmosphere. Music by Uncorked. Tickets are $35 (plus taxes) and the event is from 7 to 9 p.m.

March 14 — Kitchen Stove Film Series presents Rust and Bone at the Landmark Cinema 7 with shows at 4 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $13 and available at the Penticton Art Gallery and The Book Shop. Limited tickets for $15 may be available at the door.

March 16 — Ballet Kelowna at Centre Stage Theatre in Summerland for what may be their final performance after deciding to suspend operations at the end of the company’s 10th anniversary in April. Show is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $36 for adults, $26 for seniors and $16 for youths and can be purchased at BalletKelowna.ca, by phone at 250-862-2867 or in person at the Actors Studio box office at 1379 Ellis St. in Kelowna.

Until March 16 — South Okanagan Actors and Players present the comedy Love, Loss and What I Wore by Nora Phron and Delia Ephron. March 8 and 9 at the Osoyoos Minitheatre. March 15 and 16 at the Oliver Seniors Centre. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors and can be purchased at Sundance Video in Oliver, Your Dollar Store with More in Osoyoos, Dragon’s Den in Penticton or The Sweet Tooth in Summerland.

March 23 — Exhibition tour at the Penticton Art Gallery of Terroir: Physically Speaking. Join the artists for a walk and talk. Entrance is by donation.

April 4 — Kitchen Stove Film Series presents A Late Quartet at the Landmark Cinema 7 with shows at 4 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $13 and available at the Penticton Art Gallery and The Book Shop. Limited tickets for $15 may be available at the door.

April 5 — First Fridays at the Penticton Art Gallery. Open mic night in the Tea Room. Enjoy an evening of creative exchange transforming concepts into realities. Free admission and all ages are welcome.

April 5 to 6 — Okanagan Fest-of-Ale at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.

Until May 9 — The Penticton Art Gallery has a second of an ongoing series of exhibitions intended to explore and celebrate the incredible depth and breadth of our region’s visual arts community. In the main gallery is Terroir: Physically Speaking featuring artists Stephan Bircher, Rose Braun, Michael Hermesh, Wanda Lock, Shauna Oddleifson and Johann Wessels.

June 29 to 30 — 12th annual Pacific Northwest Elvis Festival.
