CONCERTS

Aug. 4 — Rock the Sun, a free concert series in Penticton’s Gyro Park, featuring Floyd Meets Brown, from 7 to 9 p.m. This psychedelic funk rock band is a four-piece group with no shortage of big sounds.

Aug. 5 — Enjoy the sassy and swinging sounds of Company B Jazz Band at the Dream Café. Tickets are $38 for premium seats and $23 for the wings.

Aug. 6 — Live music Sundays at the Cannery Brewing Company featuring Miles Kereliuk from 6 to 8 p.m.

Aug. 9 — Steve Dawson has become an indelible fixture on the Canadian musical landscape with seven Juno awards as an artist/producer and 20 times nominated. He will be joined by Daniel Lapp on fiddle and trumpet and Jeremy Holmes on bass and mandolin at the Dream Café.

Aug. 10 — Jesse Roper performs his versatile blues rooted should, rock and country funk at the Dream Café. Doors at 6 p.m. and show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $41 for premium seating and $26 for the wings.

Aug. 13 — Live music Sundays at the Cannery Brewing Company featuring Dorian Goodwin from 6 to 8 p.m.

Aug. 18 —Uncork the Sun at Oliver Community Park from 6 to 10 p.m. featuring live music from Jack and Jill. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for students and kids under 8 are free. Proceeds support the Oliver Roots and Fruits Expo, a feee day of live entertainment and exhibits for families.

Aug. 5 — Artist Georgie Krebs, who grew up on a guest ranch/resort outside Penticton, will have an artist opening event at the Front Street Gallery from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Aug. 7 — B.C. Day Family Party in the Park. Free family entertainment from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Gyro Park including Shaughnessy Rose, Beamer Wigley and Abby Stewart, Cosmic Brew and more.

Aug. 10 — St. Germain Café Gallery has a new show, Possibilities, by Penticton artist Derrie Selles. Opening event from 5 to 8 p.m. and the show runs through to Sept. 30.

Aug. 5 to Aug. 13 — A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed by the St. Andrew’s Players takes place Aug. 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. at Saxon Winery in Summerland, Aug. 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. in Oliver at Tinhorn Creek Winery, Aug. 11 and 13 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Township 7 Winery in Penticton. Tickets, available at Dragon’s Den, host wineries and at the door, are $20 for adults and children 12 and under free.

Aug. 9 to 13 — The Penticton Peach Festival celebrates 70 years with headlining acts Trooper, 54:40, Aaron Pritchett, the Powder Blues Band and five days of free, family entertainment on the Peters Bros. main stage, a parade, mega-motocross show and more. Aug. 19 — B.C. Pinot Noir Celebration brings together 34 of the province’s best Pinot Noir producers to celebrate the varietal at Linden Gardens in Kaleden. Tastings, keynote speaker, live music and a cocktail-style dinner from Canada’s top chefs. For more information visit www.bcpinotnoir.ca

Aug. 19 — Oliver Roots & Fruits Expo, a celebration of Oliver’s agriculture heritage takes place at the community park and hall from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Downtown parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Live entertainment featuring Chris Buck Band, Mysterious Sonic Booms, Rebel Luv, children’s sing-a-long, Nice Verdes, Pico’s Puppet Place and Oliver’s Got Talent Show. As well there will be a multicultural food village, agriculture and heritage exhibits, barrel train rides, kid activities, pie eating contest, pie baking contest and strangest vegetable contest. Admission is free.
