The Brushes of Barriere painting group is back at the Ridge

'It's nice to paint with other people.'

The Brushes of Barriere will resume its collaborative painting get-togethers at the Ridge starting Friday, Sept. 28.

The art group has been bringing painters together since Colleen Lyons started the group in 2004.

Jessie Maisonneuve has been a member and organizer since she came to Barriere in 2008.

“It’s just a fun get together,” she said. “It’s nice to paint with other people.”

The group welcomes painters of all ages and abilities, painting in all mediums.

They may not be a teaching club, but are happy to give some instruction or help each other out, said Maisonneuve.

No commitment is required to join Brushes of Barriere.

Simply come when you can, bring your own supplies and pay $2 per week to help pay for the room.

Last year, Maisonneuve said they averaged at 12 painters but membership tends to fluctuate.

For more information, call Maisonneuve at 250-672-9772 or simply come to the Ridge from 12 to 2:30 p.m. on a Friday.
