Whether he’s playing a heart wrenching ballad on the keys, breaking out the harmonica blues, strumming on his banjo, or reciting his unmatchable spoken word, C.R. Avery always puts on a memorable performance.

This fine East Vancouver musician will return to Bozzini’s in Chilliwack on Friday evening.

“C.R. Avery is a phenomenon, and every Canadian should know that he’s ours. I could say more, but what I most hope is that you will get to experience him for yourself,” says veteran Canadian musician Corin Raymond.

From musical beginnings in his late teens, C.R. Avery has recorded over 15 albums and has written and directed six hip-hop operas, which were performed from New York’s Bowery to L.A.’s South Central.

He’s toured throughout Canada, hitting up nearly every major folk festival, the United States and Europe. He’s garnered the attention of music industry peers including Tom Waits, Charlie Musselwhite and folk legend Utah Phillips.

His incredible live performances have been described as Bob Dylan in the body of Iggy Pop; colliding with Little Walter, the Beastie Boys and Allen Ginsberg. Every show is all or nothing, and his fearless approach to all genres of music both on stage and in the studio proves the longevity of this talented, astonishing creator.

C.R. Avery performs at Bozzini’s upstairs lounge (45739 Hocking Ave) June 17, where he’ll treat the audience to a sneak peak of his latest album All the Angels Didn’t Scare Me.

Doors open at 8 p.m., the show starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 at Bozzini’s or can be reserved by phone at 604-792-0744.
