Opera fans can rejoice as The Met: Live in HD returns for its sixth season this fall.
Transmitting live from New York’s Metropolitan Opera House to Cineplex theatres across Canada, including Vernon’s Galaxy Cinemas, the 11 live broadcasts, via satellite in high definition and digital surround sound, begin Oct. 15.
“We are delighted to once again offer The Met: Live in HD as this series is extremely popular with our guests,” said Pat Marshall, vice president of communications and investor relations at Cineplex Entertainment.
“Performances will sell out well in advance so I recommend purchasing tickets early to avoid disappointment, especially with the great lineup The Met has put together this year.”

Handel, Vivaldi and Rameau’s The Enchanted Island makes its world premiere Jan. 21 to open up the new year; Wagner’s Götterdämmerung, Feb. 11, opens the Met’s new Ring cycle; Verdi’s Ernani, Feb. 25, stars an international cast; Massenet’s Manon, April 7, brings Netrebko back as the tragic heroine; Verdi’s La Traviata, April 14, will have Natalie Dessay putting on the red dress as Violetta.
